Key Stats: CF Óscar Mercado 1-for-4, 3B; 1B Graham Pauley 2-for-4; LHP Ryan Carpenter 4.1 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 4 K, BB; LHP Alek Jacob 1.2 IP, K, 2 BB
Prospect Watch: The Chihuahuas were held to two runs as they dropped the final series of the first half, finishing with a 31-44 record that was the second worst in the PCL. They were sixth on the 10-team circuit in runs scored, but gave up exactly one more run a game than they scored through the first 75 contests. Both Bryce Johnson and Eguy Rosario, who would be candidates for a call-up to the big league club if injuries require reinforcements, were held out of the game. … Graham Pauley had a pair of singles in his first multi-hit effort in nearly two weeks. The left-handed hitting prospect has struggled mightily after rather surprisingly beginning the year on the big league roster. He’s batting .176 with only two walks in 76 trips to the plate this month. … After Ryan Carpenter labored through 4.1 innings, lefty Alek Jacob came on with two runs already in and two men on in the fifth. He got two straight pop flies to escape further damage. He worked around a pair of walks in the next inning to turn in his second straight scoreless appearance. While the walks remain an issue for the 26-year-old, he’s started to stabilize after a difficult start to the season, posting a 3.86 ERA this month.
Missions 2, Amarillo Sod Poodles 1 (10 innings)

Austin Krob was masterful Sunday. (Photo: San Antonio Missions)
Key Stats: 1B Robbie Tenerowicz 1-for-4, HR (7); SS Ray-Patrick Didder 1-for-3, HBP, 2 SB (14); LHP Austin Krob 7 IP, 2 H, 12 K, 2 BB; RHP Ethan Routzahn (W, 4-0), 2 IP
Prospect Watch: The Missions got the strongest pitching performance of the year from Austin Krob, who struck out a career-high 12 over seven scoreless innings in one of the sport’s worst pitching environments. The 24-year-old lefty had been hit hard in his last three outings, including a start earlier in the series, but he set down the first nine batters he faced, including six on strikeouts. Krob, who had his fastball running up to 93 in the contest, gave up only two singles and one fly ball to the outfield across his season-best seven innings. … The stellar outing wasn’t enough to earn Krob the victory, as the Missions offense managed just two hits while he was in the game. One of them was another home run by Robbie Tenerowicz, who now has five homers since joining the Padres organization as a minor league free agent at the start of May. The minor league veteran is hitting .300 and has an OPS just below 1.000 over his last 18 games. … Ethan Routzahn worked a pair of perfect innings to pick up the victory and drop his ERA to 2.54. The St. John’s product, who signed as an undrafted free agent in 2021, recorded all six outs on ground balls, continuing a trend he’s maintained all year. The 26-year-old’s funky delivery from the right side creates frequent poor contact from opponents.
TinCaps 6, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 5

Key Stats: CF Homer Bush Jr. 1-for-4, 2 SB (33); 1B Romeo Sanabria 2-for-2, BB, SF; C Anthony Vilar 3-for-4, 2B; LF Tyler Robertson 1-for-3; RHP Braden Nett 2 IP, 1 H, 4 K, 2 BB, WP; RHP Tyler Morgan 2.2 IP, 2 H, 3 K
Prospect Watch: The TinCaps put up four runs in the third inning and held on to split the series with the Midwest League’s top team. Braden Nett made it through two innings for the first time in four appearances since coming off the IL at the start of the month. The righty dialed his fastball up to 99 and showed feel for both a mid-80s slider and a slower curve as he struck out four, but as has been a theme since he signed as an undrafted free agent in 2022, he landed just 19 of 36 pitches for strikes. … Tyler Morgan worked 2.2 clean frames in relief, extending his scoreless streak to 11.1 innings. He’s allowed only seven hits and one earned run over his last 17.2 innings of work. The 2023 14th-rounder has worked himself into higher leverage situations and picked up his first hold of the year. … Romeo Sanabria had a pair of hits, walked and had a sacrifice fly. The big first baseman is 4-for-11 since joining the TinCaps. … Tyler Robertson returned to the lineup for the first time in nearly two weeks and picked up a hit in three at-bats before giving way in the seventh inning. The athletic outfielder had reached base in 14 straight games before he left his last game with a forearm injury.
Storm 6, Visalia Rawhide 4
Key Stats: CF Nick Vogt 1-for-4, HR (5); C Oswaldo Linares 1-for-2, HR (1), BB; RHP Isaiah Lowe 5 IP, 5 H, 4 R (2 ER), 6 K, 4 BB; RHP Maikel Miralles 2 IP, K, 2 BB; LHP Javier Chacon (S, 2) 2 IP, H, K, BB
Prospect Watch: The Storm only had five hits in the game, but they made the most of them as they put together a six-run fourth inning that included a pair of homers, then held on for the win. The clubs combined for only two hits over the final five innings of the contest. Nick Vogt, who was born two hours further north in the Central Valley in Modesto, connected on his third homer in as many days and fourth over his last six games. The 23-year-old center fielder had only one home run in his first 43 games of the season. He finished the series 10-for-22 with a .955 slugging percentage, making him a good bet for the Cal League player of the week. He’s added 140 points to his OPS since coming off the IL at the end of last month. … Oswaldo Linares came through with his first round-tripper of the year to cap the scoring and give the Storm their margin of victory. The 21-year-old backstop has limped to a .544 OPS on the year, but he’s shown signs of life with five extra-base hits in his last 25 at-bats. … While he wasn’t as dominant as he has been in his last several starts, Isaiah Lowe only allowed two earned runs over five innings while striking out six. The 21-year-old righty, who came in on a stellar three-game run, walked a season-high four batters and needed 89 pitches to get through his work. Three of the five hits Lowe allowed Sunday went for extra bases, but he minimized the damage with a pair of double-play grounders. His ERA ticked up to 2.94, which would be good for sixth in the Cal League if he wasn’t just below the qualification threshold. … Lowe came out to start the sixth inning, but gave up a walk and double to open the frame. Maikel Miralles inherited the difficult situation as he came on for just his second Cal League appearance, but the hard-throwing 19-year-old rose to the occasion. After a walk to load the bases, he got a strikeout and two flyouts which kept a run from scoring. He came back in the seventh and got a double-play grounder after issuing a second walk. Miralles struck out 21 an held opponents to a .200 average in 15 innings in the ACL before joining Lake Elsinore in his first season stateside.
